Dairy co-ops facing issue of transportation in Assam

Farmers including dairy farmers in Assam are throwing away their produce as a consequence of the corona lock down, reports Hindu.

Nearly 1,500 members of the Sitajakhala Dugdha Utpadak Samabai Samiti in the Morigaon district of Assam dumped about 10,000 litres of milk in rivers during the first two days of the lockdown.

There is no availability of transport and the milk processing plant is 65 km east of Guwahati.

However, this is not an isolated example, scores of cooperative societies across Assam are passing through the same peril.
