Representatives of credit cooperative societies were among the key participants in an outreach programme on the Income Tax Act, 2025 organised by the Office of the Income Tax Department, Belagavi, at KLE Society’s Pre-University Science & Commerce College, Bailhongal.
The programme, attended by around 37 participants from various professional and business bodies, included chartered accountants, tax practitioners, bankers, industrialists, traders, doctors and cooperative representatives from Bailhongal, Savadatti and Ramadurg.
During the session, Income Tax officials explained the major changes introduced under the Income Tax Act, 2025 compared with the 1961 Act, highlighting its simplified language, tabular presentation and provisions aimed at reducing litigation.
Special emphasis was laid on tax deductions available to credit cooperative societies under Chapter VI-A and the procedure for filing income tax returns. Officials also addressed participants’ queries relating to faceless appellate proceedings.
Participants were introduced to the department’s newly launched digital initiatives, including the Kar Sathi chatbot and Kar Setu FAQ platform, while brochures and QR-code-based learning material were distributed. The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.
