A serious financial dispute has emerged at the Rajasthan based Jaisalmer Central Co-operative Bank Ltd., with a local credit society alleging non-payment of deposits worth nearly Rs 30 crore.
Shri Laxminathji Bachat Evam Sakh Sahkari Samiti Ltd., a cooperative society operating for over two decades, has approached the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), seeking urgent intervention.
The society claims that despite maturity of deposits and repeated follow-ups, the bank has declined repayment, citing fund constraints. The delay has put the society under pressure, as it struggles to meet obligations towards its members, raising concerns over trust and stability in the cooperative banking ecosystem.
In its representation, the society has warned that continued non-payment could damage its credibility and trigger wider public distress. Copies of the complaint have also been marked to the Rajasthan government and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), calling for immediate action.
The issue now awaits regulatory response, with attention turning to RBI’s next steps. A copy of the complaint is available with Indian Cooperative.
