The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has ordered the winding up of The Sterling Bio Tech Staff Co-operative Thrift & Credit Society Ltd., registered under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, in Tamil Nadu.
The order, issued under Section 86 of the MSCS Act, follows the society’s request for winding up. According to the CRCS, the society had only 30 members and had failed to file its mandatory annual returns under Section 120 of the Act from the financial year 2023-24 onwards. The society had also lost its status as a multi-State cooperative society under Section 6(2)(a).
The CRCS said a notice providing a final opportunity to submit objections was issued in April 2026, but no response was received.
Prabu Paulraj, Chief Director, Regional Office Chennai, National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), has been appointed as the liquidator under Section 89(1) of the Act.
The order was issued by Shiv Pal Singh, Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies, on September 17, 2026. The liquidator has been directed to submit quarterly progress reports.
