Cooperators mourn passing away of M S Swaminathan

Cooperators mourn the death of M S Swaminathan, father of India’s Green Revolution, who passed away at his residence in Chennai on Thursday. He was 98 and died due to age related issues.

In his condolence message, NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani wrote, “The news of the demise of Dr. M S Swaminathanji, the pioneer of Green Revolution, agricultural scientist who gave a new direction to the Indian agricultural sector and Padma Vibhushan awardee, is sad. We pray to God that his soul rest in peace and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this loss”.

ICA-AP and Kribhco Chairman Dr Chandra Pal Singh Yadav said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the tragic demise of Dr. MS Swaminathan. May God give strength to his family & loved ones to bear this unmeasurable loss”.

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of father of India’s Green revolution, world renowned agronomist & scientist Dr. #MSSwaminathan Ji. He will always be remembered for his contribution in shaping & transforming India’s agricultural scenario & policy in the agricultural sector will always be remembered. I pray to God to bestow peace to the departed soul & give strength to his family to bear this irreparable loss. Om Shanti”.
