Congress vows to close Kerala Bank if voted to power

Media reports expressing its unreserved opposition to the proposed Kerala Bank, Congress says it will close it if it comes to power.

State Congress president Mullapally Ramachandran was reacting to State Cooperation Minister Kadakampally Ramachandran saying Kerala High Court has disposed of the petitions filed against the proposed bank and there are no hurdles to forming the bank early next year.

The Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left government is committed to forming the bank by merging 14 district cooperative banks with the Kerala State Cooperative Bank (KSCB).

Kerala will go the polls in 2021.
