Co-ops should be kept off election duties: DMK

DMK has called upon Election Commission to see that functionaries of co-operative societies/banks are not assigned election work in Tamil Nadu, reports IANS.

The party has expressed its fear that officials of co-operative bodies are most likely to help the ruling AIADMK, rig elections.

The opposition party says there are 18,775 co-operative societies/banks functioning in Tamil Nadu under different government departments and they are, totally controlled by the ruling AIADMK members as Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Board of Directors.
