Omprakash Dadappa alias Kaka Koyte, President of the Maharashtra State Federation of Cooperative Credit Societies, emphasised that cooperative credit institutions play a vital role beyond financial transactions and act as instruments of social change.

He was speaking at a one-day discussion seminar jointly organised by the State Federation at the Federation’s Cooperative Training and Research Centre in Shirdi.

Koyte highlighted the importance of aligning the cooperative movement with the vision of “Maharashtra 2047,” stressing the effective use of entrepreneurship, self-help groups, and emerging business opportunities. He urged young cooperative workers to take a proactive role in strengthening institutions and to understand proposed amendments to the Cooperative Act to ensure transparency, efficiency, and sustainable growth.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from young representatives of cooperative credit societies across Maharashtra. Addressing the gathering, Milind Arolkar, Director of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank Federation and Dombivli Urban Cooperative Bank, noted that cooperation serves as a powerful tool for local development, business expansion, and community empowerment.

The programme was attended by Advocate Anjali Patil, Dr. Ravindra Bhosale, Narayan Waje, and Shivajiappa Kapale, among others. In the post-lunch session, Koyte spoke on expected legal reforms in the cooperative sector, followed by presentations by Vivek Sinare on industry and business opportunities and Aniruddha Mirikar on entrepreneurship development for self-help groups.

The seminar proved inspirational, offering clear direction for the future of Maharashtra’s cooperative credit movement.
