Highlighting the growing importance of the cooperative movement in India’s economy, B Thiagarajan said cooperatives hold immense power in driving inclusive growth and remain deeply rooted in Indian culture.
Speaking at the session “Cooperatives- Corporate Collaboration for India@100” during the CII Annual Business Summit 2026, Thiagarajan noted that while MSMEs often dominate economic discussions, the contribution of cooperatives deserves equal attention in a fast-growing economy like India.
“Cooperatives are not often the subject that is talked about. Though we discuss MSMEs in a big way, the power of cooperatives is extremely important in a growing economy like ours,” he said.
The session focused on strengthening collaboration between corporates and cooperatives to build a stronger and more inclusive economy by 2047.
