Co-ops grabbing 600 acres of land in UP?

IANS reports the Renuka Kumar committee formed by the Uttar Pradesh, govt. to probe the Sonebhadra massacre in the state last year, says over 1000 acres of land are under illegal occupation and 600 acres are occupied by cooperative societies.

The govt land under illegal occupation is worth Rs. 700 crores. The report also reveals that Congress leaders and retired bureaucrats are also in illegal occupation of the govt land.

In 2019, scores of people had been killed in a clash over the land in the Murtiya village in Sonbhadra.
