Co-op Urea Procurement: Punjab tightens oversight
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Punjab Government has initiated disciplinary action against officials of cooperative institutions MARKFED and MILKFED over the alleged supply of subsidised Neem-Coated Urea instead of Technical Grade Urea.

Seven officers have been charge-sheeted and another transferred, while the Taxation Department is probing suspected GST irregularities involving firms in Punjab, Delhi and Haryana.

The matter has been referred to CGST authorities for further investigation. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed MARKFED to become the nodal cooperative agency for procuring Technical Grade Urea directly from authorised government sources, emphasising transparency, accountability and protection of farmers’ interests through a robust cooperative supply chain.
