The UK’s Co-op will eliminate 115 tonnes of plastic annually by introducing sustainable packaging across bakery, produce, and protein ranges.
This includes a first-of-its-kind bag-in-a-box format for mini bakery cakes, reducing plastic use by 87% and saving 18 tonnes yearly.
The Irresistible British steak range now features fibre-based composite packaging, cutting 20 tonnes of plastic. Additionally, premium British tomatoes will shift from plastic to cardboard punnets, saving 77 tonnes of plastic annually.
