Co-op Sector surges ahead with nearly 37,000 new Societies

India’s cooperative movement is witnessing a remarkable expansion, with the National Cooperative Database (NCD) recording a historic addition of 36,996 new cooperative societies since February 2023.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the cooperative sector is rapidly expanding its footprint, reaching even the most remote regions.

According to the Union Ministry of Cooperation, the newly registered societies include 9,677 Multi-Purpose Agriculture Credit Societies (MPACS), 25,054 Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MDCS), and 2,264 Multi-Functional Cooperative Societies (MFCS).

The surge highlights the growing importance of cooperatives in India’s economic framework, reinforcing the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation). With this momentum, the sector is poised to drive inclusive growth and empower millions across the nation.
