Co-op records: CAG indicts Delhi admin

The cooperative dept of Delhi administration has shown to be extremely lackadaisical in maintaining records of cooperative societies functioning in the city.

According to the CAG report, the dept had no data base of 66 societies it had given loans to and 121 non-government societies in which it had made investment.

The CAG report had recently been presented in the Parliament. There are 5,558 cooperative societies altogether in the country’s capital.

Most of the cooperatives in the capital were not submitting their properly audited accounts and therefore should be categorized as defunct. However, the cooperative dept has denied all accusations contained in the CAG report.
