The Ministry of Cooperation organised a cyber security awareness session for its officers and employees at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi to strengthen digital safety and promote vigilance against rising cyber threats.
The session was conducted by Smt. Anupam Srivastava, Senior Director (IT) at the National Informatics Centre, along with her team. Participants were educated on identifying cyber security risks, preventing online fraud and adopting secure digital practices in official and personal communication.
Officials highlighted major cyber threats including phishing, malware attacks, social engineering tactics, denial-of-service attacks and man-in-the-middle attacks. The session also explained how cyber criminals often exploit fear, emotional pressure and fake offers to obtain sensitive personal and financial information.
Employees were advised to avoid suspicious links, emails and messages, use only verified websites and applications, and immediately report any cyber fraud incidents. They were also cautioned against sharing OTPs, passwords or banking details with anyone.
The awareness programme was organised as part of ongoing efforts to promote cyber hygiene and strengthen digital preparedness within the cooperative sector ecosystem.
