Co-op election: BJP dents Shivpal’s den Jaswantnagar

In the first of its kind, BJP has won the election of a cooperative society in Jaswantnagar in Etawah district-an area controlled by former cooperative minister and younger brother of SP patiriach Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shivpal.

The election result of Uttar Pradesh Sadhan Sahakari Samiti was announced last week and this is for the first time that BJP has won the election of the Samiti in Etawah district, screamed local dailies.

Readers would recall that Jaswantnagar is a constituency of former cooperative minister and senior Samajwadi leader Shivpal Singh Yadav and has always been held as the stronghold of SP both electorally and cooperatively.

Returning Officer D.N.Nagar said “Rajan Shree, the Chairman Candidate from BJP got 5 votes whereas his rival from Samajwadi Party Charan Singh got three votes. One vote was declared invalid and thus Rajan Shree has been elected as the Chairman”, he announced.

BJP also won the post of Vice-Chairman as Badam Singh its Vice-Chairman Candidate got 5 votes whereas his rival Veena Devi received 4 votes. Badam Singh was declared elected as the new Vice-Chairman of the Samiti.

Nine directors in all cast their votes in the election for the Chairman and Vice-Chairman. Local leaders from both the parties-BJP and SP were present during the election forcing the local administration and police also to guard the election process.

Sources say former cooperative minister Shivpal Singh Yadav strained every nerve to win the election but he miserably failed to do so.
