Cooperative banks disbursed Rs 2.8 lakh crore in agricultural Ground-Level Credit during FY2026, accounting for 9.3% of the Rs 30 lakh crore achieved by all banking agencies.

Cooperative banks accounted for 9.3% of total agricultural Ground-Level Credit (GLC) achieved by the banking sector during FY2026, according to NABARD’s district-level credit planning data.

As of March 31, 2026, banks collectively achieved Rs 30 lakh crore in agricultural GLC against the overall annual target of Rs 32.5 lakh crore, registering 92% achievement.

Cooperative banks achieved Rs 2.8 lakh crore against their target of Rs 3.7 lakh crore, translating into about 76% achievement of their own target. Their share in the sector’s total achieved GLC stood at 9.3% (Rs 2.8 lakh crore out of Rs 30 lakh crore).

Of the cooperative banks’ Rs 2.8 lakh crore achievement, Rs 2.5 lakh crore was crop lending, while Rs 0.3 lakh crore was term lending.

Commercial banks remained the largest institutional source of agricultural GLC, with Regional Rural Banks also contributing significantly to agricultural credit delivery.

NABARD prepared 774 Potential Linked Plans (PLPs) covering 784 districts and Union Territories during FY2026. It also deployed 552 district and cluster officers and opened 60 new district offices to strengthen credit planning and monitoring.
