Former finance minister P Chidambaram has described demonetization as “the biggest scam of the year” and called for a thorough probe by a special investigation team, reports Hindustan Times.
Dismissing demonetization as “a thoughtless move”, he pointed out “no one in the world has a good word for it… Every major newspaper and economists have condemned it”.
“Keeping out District Cooperative Banks is punishing the farmers who are suffering .They have no money to buy seeds, fertilizers, hire labour and other supplies,” the former finance minister said.
Senior Congress leader said Modi should have consulted experts before implementing such a major step.
