Chhattisgarh is poised to achieve a record-breaking paddy procurement during the current kharif season, totaling 127 lakh metric tons. Despite its establishment in 2000, the state faced challenges in providing suitable returns to farmers, reports the New Indian Express.
The ongoing bumper procurement, led by the new BJP government, aims to surpass the estimated target of 130 LMT. Paddy growers and registered sown areas have notably increased, with 26.85 lakh farmers and 33.48 lakh hectares recorded.
The government’s increased MSP of Rs 3,100 per quintal and higher procurement limit contribute to this remarkable agricultural milestone.
