The Centre has notified a fresh set of nano fertilisers under the Fertiliser (Control) Order, 1985, marking a step towards expanding the segment beyond early entrants.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, through an order dated April 27, 2026, approved Nano Zinc (liquid), Nano NPK (10-10-10), Nano Nitrogen and Phosphorous (08-16), and Nano NPK (6-10-4) for manufacture for a period of two years.
Meghmani Crop Nutrition Ltd. has been authorised to produce three of the products, while DCM Shriram Ltd. will manufacture Nano NPK (6-10-4). The notification lays down specifications on nutrient content, particle size and zeta potential, requiring that at least 50 per cent of particles be below 100 nanometres.
Strict conditions have also been imposed, including a ban on forced bundling with other agri-inputs, mandatory disclosure of crop-wise dosage and application methods, and field demonstrations at Krishi Vigyan Kendras.
The move indicates a shift towards multi-nutrient nano formulations and could support wider adoption in India’s emerging nano fertiliser market.
