The Cooperative Election Authority (CEA) under the Union Ministry of Cooperation has approved the election of the office-bearers of the National Federation of Fishers Cooperatives Ltd. (FISHCOPFED), clearing the appointment of Prakash Marotrao Lonare as Chairman and Jayashree Garnaik as Vice-Chairperson.
In an order issued Friday, the CEA approved the recommendations of the Returning Officer under Rule 19N of the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Rules and directed that the election results be formally declared and displayed on the federation’s website.
According to the proceedings submitted by Returning Officer and South-East Delhi District Magistrate Dr. Sravan Bagaria, the election of office-bearers was held on July 30 at FISHCOPFED’s registered office in New Delhi.
Lonare, President of the Nagpur Zillah Machhimar Sahakari Sangh, was elected Chairman unopposed. For the post of Vice-Chairperson, Jayashree Garnaik, a Director of the Fisheries Odisha Cooperative Corporation Ltd. (FISHFED), defeated Sanjay Kewat by securing nine of the 11 votes cast, while Kewat received two votes.
The Returning Officer certified that the election was conducted peacefully and in accordance with the provisions of the MSCS Act and FISHCOPFED’s bye-laws.
