CAMPCO resumes collecting cocoa beans from farmers

CAMPCO president S.R. Satishchandra said the cooperative had resumed collecting cocoa beans from farmers in Dakshina Kannada to ease their difficulties during the lock down, reports Hindu.

The procurement of cocoa beans had stopped in the wake of the national lock down.

Cocoa is predominantly grown as an inter-crop in the arecanut plantations in the coastal and Malnad belt.

A source says the cooperative will begin procuring wet beans elsewhere too with the improvement in logistics.
