BISCOMAUN Vice-President Vishal Singh, accompanied by Mahesh Rai, Chairman of Gopalganj Central Cooperative Bank, met Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan to raise two key demands concerning Bihar’s farmers and food security.
The delegation sought a 15-day extension for supplying 1,350 pending lots of Custom Milled Rice (CMR), valued at approximately Rs 140 crore.
It also urged the Centre to increase Bihar’s paddy procurement target for the Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27 from 35 lakh metric tonnes to 56 lakh metric tonnes.
The delegation said the demands were aimed at safeguarding farmers’ interests, ensuring proper management of their produce and strengthening Bihar’s food security system.
The initiative underscores the role of cooperative institutions in addressing procurement challenges and seeking policy support for farmers and the state’s agricultural economy.
