The Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD), promoted by NABARD, launched a two-day residential programme on “Digital Native Banking” in Lucknow on October 26, bringing together senior officials of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and rural cooperative banks.
The programme aims to strengthen the digital capabilities of rural financial institutions amid growing competition and the declining share of RRBs and cooperative banks in agricultural and rural credit.
With mobile banking, UPI, internet banking and fintech innovations reshaping customer expectations, the training focuses on helping rural banks adopt technology-driven, customer-centric operations while retaining their strong grassroots connect.
The programme covers digital product development, customer experience, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fraud monitoring and risk management. Participants will also explore ways to simplify banking services, improve loan processing, enhance operational efficiency and deepen financial inclusion.
The initiative is designed for senior officers of RRBs, State Cooperative Banks and District Central Cooperative Banks. It will conclude with participants developing practical roadmaps to transform their institutions into digitally enabled, competitive and customer-focused banks.
