Bihar Cooperative Minister Prem Kumar announced that Cooperative Bank branches will open in 15 more districts, expanding its reach from 23 to 38 districts.
The state has sought RBI approval for 144 new branches across 534 blocks. Under a May banking campaign, 1,123 cooperative awareness events were held, taking services to 805 panchayats.
One lakh people will receive loans via JLGs and SHGs. VEGFED committees and cold storages will be set up in all blocks by June 15, 2025. So far, Rs 60.5 lakh in loans recovered and Rs 1.42 crore disbursed to 203 farmers.
