Bihar seeks help to tackle co-op banks’ NPAs

Bihar has urged the center to pitch in with financial assistance to help it tackle the problem of NPA of state cooperative banks, The NPA stands at Rs 197.32 crore, reports Press Trust of India.

According to Bihar cooperative minister, it is important to address the NPA problem as the crisis-ridden state cooperative banks could harm farmers’ interests.

In a letter addressed to union minister for agriculture, the Bihar minister has called upon to provide assistance to the state as soon as possible.

The state is facing partial drought due to deficit monsoon for the last three years. Moreover, many districts have faced floods and hailstorm impacting recovery of loans by banks, the minister added.
