Bihar raises Wheat procurement target

The Bihar Cooperative Department has announced a ten-fold increase in the wheat procurement target for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27, describing the move as a major boost for farmers and the state’s procurement network.

The department said the expanded target aims to ensure fair and remunerative prices for wheat growers while strengthening Bihar’s wheat surplus procurement system. Officials stated that the initiative would improve market access for farmers, streamline procurement operations and enhance storage and distribution mechanisms across the state.

The announcement was shared through the department’s official social media handle, with senior leaders and officials, including Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav and state cooperative authorities, tagged in the post on Wednesday.
