Bihar Govt pushes revival of closed Sugar Mills

Bihar Cooperative Department on May 13, 2026, said Cooperation Minister Ram Kripal Yadav has directed officials to expedite the process of restarting closed sugar mills in Sakri of Madhubani district and Raiyam of Darbhanga district.

The directions were issued during a departmental review meeting chaired by the minister. Officials were instructed to accelerate efforts for reviving the two sugar mills to boost industrial activity and generate employment opportunities in the region.

The revival of the mills is expected to benefit sugarcane farmers and strengthen the cooperative sugar sector in north Bihar. The initiative is also aimed at improving local economic activity and supporting rural livelihoods in the concerned districts.
