Rajasthan Minister of State for Cooperation Gautam Kumar Dak announced that India’s first cooperative-based taxi service, “Bharat Taxi,” will soon be launched in Jaipur, offering affordable, safe and driver-owned transport services.
Addressing drivers during the Bharat Taxi Samvad programme at the Apex Bank auditorium on Wednesday, the minister said the service has already been introduced in Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Chandigarh, and is now set to expand to Jaipur and other cities. The Jaipur launch is proposed for the first week of June.
Dak said Bharat Taxi is built on the principles of ownership, security, dignity and equal distribution of profits, with drivers themselves becoming stakeholders and real owners of the platform instead of external companies.
He also assured drivers that no account would be suspended without a hearing and that the platform would eliminate hidden charges and arbitrary subscription fees imposed by private aggregators.
Drivers welcomed the initiative, calling it a major step toward economic empowerment and cooperative-led growth.
