In a significant initiative to promote cooperative-led agricultural development, the Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Ltd. (BBSSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration for the production and marketing of high-quality seeds.

The partnership seeks to enhance the availability of certified and improved seeds to farmers across the Islands, thereby supporting higher agricultural productivity and sustainable farming practices. By combining the strengths of the cooperative sector with the expertise of the Agriculture Department, the initiative aims to establish an efficient seed supply chain and improve access to quality planting material.

Senior officials from the Departments of Agriculture and Cooperation were present during the signing ceremony.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen cooperative coordination, promote the adoption of modern agricultural technologies, and contribute to building a self-reliant and prosperous farming ecosystem in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands through better seed availability and marketing support.
