Amul has issued a strong public rebuttal to a YouTube video that questioned the quality and hygiene of its Masti Dahi, terming the content misleading and fear-mongering. Responding on social media, the dairy major said the product fully complies with FSSAI norms and Amul’s own rigorous quality standards.
Addressing the YouTuber’s lab findings, Amul noted that the reported protein and fat levels were in fact higher than the values declared on the label, which indicates natural variation rather than any quality lapse. The video had suggested that the pouch variant of Masti Dahi might be less hygienic than the cup version.
Amul rejected this claim, clarifying that both pouch and cup variants undergo identical processing, handling and hygiene protocols. The company pointed out that dahi is a live product containing beneficial bacteria and that improper sampling or storage before testing can affect results.
The cooperative added that Masti Dahi is produced in ISO-certified dairies and subjected to over 50 stringent quality checks before reaching consumers. Concluding its statement, Amul said such videos spread misinformation and unnecessarily alarm the public.
