Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah lauded Amul for securing the first position globally among cooperatives. Speaking at Coop Kumbh 2025, Shah said the recognition reflects how the idea and culture of cooperatives continue to thrive in India.
Highlighting Amul’s remarkable journey, he said the cooperative has become the driving force behind the White Revolution in the country. Through its network of 3.6 million farmer members, 18,000 village societies, and 18 district unions, Amul collects nearly 30 million litres of milk daily from across India.
Shah noted that in 2024–25, Amul’s turnover crossed Rs 90,000 crore, underscoring the power of collective effort. Over 65 per cent of Amul’s members are women, demonstrating how small contributions from millions of farmers have together built one of the world’s largest and most successful cooperatives.
