Amul is set to invest nearly Rs 800 crore in West Bengal and Assam as part of its biggest expansion drive in eastern and northeastern India, a report in TOI says.

The dairy cooperative plans to establish its first fully owned dairy processing plant in West Bengal with an estimated investment of around Rs 650 crore, while a Rs 150 crore project is coming up near Guwahati in Assam.

The expansion follows Amul’s growing presence in the region since entering West Bengal in 2008. The projects are expected to strengthen milk procurement, processing capacity and infrastructure in two states.
