Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has announced an increase of Rs 2 per litre in the prices of major milk variants across India with effect from May 14, 2026.
According to the federation, the price revision translates to an increase of around 2.5% to 3.5% in maximum retail prices, which it said remains lower than the average food inflation rate. The cooperative also noted that no increase in Amul milk prices had been made since May 2025.
The federation stated that the revision was necessary due to the rising cost of milk production, including higher expenses on cattle feed, packaging material, and fuel. It added that member unions have increased procurement prices paid to farmers by nearly Rs 30 per kilogram of fat over the past year.
Amul said nearly 80% of the money received from consumers is passed on to milk producers, and the latest hike will help support dairy farmers and encourage higher milk production.
