Amul applauds Budget for Co-op and Dairy boost

Dairy major Amul has welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, stating that it offers transformational support to the cooperative movement, the dairy sector and the rural economy. In a statement, Amul said the Budget outlines several landmark measures to strengthen cooperatives, animal husbandry infrastructure and rural livelihoods, in line with the vision of Sahakar se Samriddhi and inclusive growth.

The Finance Minister’s announcement of tax incentives for cooperative entities engaged in cattle feed and cotton seed supply has been termed a major relief. Amul highlighted key taxation reforms, including extended income-tax deductions, exemptions on inter-cooperative dividend income and special concessions for national cooperative federations, which will enhance financial sustainability.

The proposed Dedicated Freight Corridor from Surat to Dankuni is expected to improve transport of perishable dairy products. Amul also welcomed tax relief on biogas-blended CNG and the establishment of Tribhuvan Sahkari University with an allocation of Rs 300 crore.
