Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah stated that, so far, 4,523 PACS from 34 States/UTs have applied online to establish Jan Aushadhi Kendras. Of these, 2,744 PACS have received initial approval from the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India.
Among the 2,744 PACS that received initial approval, 785 have been issued drug licenses by the State Drug Controllers. Out of these, 716 PACS have been allotted Store Codes by PMBI and are ready to function as Jan Aushadhi Kendras. There are no restrictions on the number of registrations.
In the state of Tamil Nadu, 183 PACS have applied, and 64 have received initial approval. Of these, 5 PACS have been issued both a drug license and a store code.
