Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that 38,974 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are now functioning as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs), bringing quality agricultural inputs and services closer to farmers at the village level.

In a written reply, Shah said the government plans to operationalise PMKSKs in all functional PACS in a phased manner. The centres provide farmers with fertilizers, quality seeds, pesticides, farm implements, and soil and seed testing facilities, helping improve agricultural productivity.

Highlighting the capacity-building initiative, Shah said the Ministry conducted a pilot training programme in 284 PACS across four states during 2024-25, training 85,219 participants through 295 programmes.

Beyond the pilot, the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT) has organised 7,320 awareness programmes for PACS across the country from 2022-23 to June 2026, training over 6 lakh participants.

According to Shah, the training has encouraged several PACS to diversify into new businesses, including Common Service Centres (CSCs), Jan Aushadhi Kendras, LPG distributorships, and the sale of certified seeds and pesticides, strengthening the rural cooperative ecosystem.
