Pune based Vidya Sahakari Bank has continued its unique tradition of serving police personnel and civic staff during Pune’s renowned Ganesh Visarjan procession for the 29th consecutive year.
The Bank’s ‘Police Shramaparihar Kendra’, set up near Alka Talkies Chowk behind Sambhaji Police Chowky, was inaugurated on September 25 by Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar. The centre provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea to police officers, security personnel and Municipal Corporation employees deployed throughout the procession.
Speaking at the inauguration, Commissioner Kumar appreciated the initiative and thanked the Bank for supporting public servants who remain engaged in security and civic duties during the long procession.
Bank Chairman Vidhyadhar Anaskar briefed the dignitaries about the history of the initiative and felicitated the Police Commissioner. Vice-Chairman Nitin Kiwatkar, directors, Acting CEO Rajiv Kadam and several employees were present.
Established in 1974 by education professionals, Vidya Sahakari Bank currently operates 13 branches and eight ATMs, with total business of around Rs 639.16 crore. The initiative reflects the Bank’s continued commitment to social responsibility.
