Urban Coop Banks beat commercial banks in CD ratio

Kudos to urban cooperative bank as it has beaten commercial banks in at least one major parameter. While the Credit deposit ration of commercial banks has declined the same has registered an upward swing for the UCBs.

According to data released by the NABARD, the CD ration of Urban Banks have risen to 141 percent from 107 per cent last year. The same figure for commercial banks has registered a downward swing.

According to National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) the total deposits, by all the banks, outstanding registered an increase of Rs 54,916.56 crore during in 2009-10, to Rs 3,00,056.19 crore from Rs 2,45,139.63 crore, in 2008-09, an increase of 22.4 per cent.

Total advances increased to Rs 3,68,405.92 crore from Rs 2,86,061.87 crore, an increase of 28.8 per cent.
