Two Cooperative banks fall victim to robbery

Cooperative Banks , one in Tiruchirrappalli in South India and one near Varanasi in North India fell victim to robbery on Saturday. A four-member masked gang robbed Rs.60000 cash from the Primary Agricultural Cooperative bank near Tiruchirrappalli on Saturday after tying up the watchman, police said.

Similarly in a late night incident, thieves broke into the Ramgarh Bazar branch of District Cooperative Bank under Pannuganj police station in Sonebhadra district on Saturday and made off with cash worth Rs 2.6 lakh from its safe. Police were clueless about the thieves.

In case of Tiruchirrappalli  the gang used a gas cutting machine to open the door and grill of the locker around midnight last night. Police said the gangsters, however, could not break open the locker as residents, hearing the noise, rushed to the spot, forcing them to flee.

In Sonabhadra district cooperative robbery case, a band of thieves raided the bank after 3 am. Initially they broke a gate and two channel gates. Afterwards, they succeeded in entering the cashier’s room where the cash was kept in a safe. The thieves had succeeded in getting one bunch of notes (Rs 2.6 lakh) when some locals noticed their presence inside the bank and raised an alarm.
