PACS are going high-tech

PACS go high tech by adopting latest electronic transaction facilities. South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank with a helping hand from Nabard is credited with launching the RuPay debit for Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies.

Unlike Visa and Master Cards, RuPay is a domestic card scheme launched by National Payments Corporation of India. It enables electronic payments at banks and financial institutions across the nation.

More than 150 PACS attached to South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank are going to benefit from this scheme. Nabard had extended fund for erecting the basic infrastructure of the project.

Now these PACS would be part of core banking system. SCDCC bank has about 63 branches. But these cards could be used across the nation leading greater financial freedom.
