Mela leads to fruitful exchange between farmers and scientists: Singh

The high-voltage Krishi Unnati Mela 2018 came to an end on Sunday with the concluding remarks made by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh at the Valedictory function. Singh said the Modi government has been successful in changing the mind-sets of farmers and increasing awareness among them.

A day prior to this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited mela ground and saw live demo of latest techniques being implemented in the field of agriculture. Besides the ministers of agriculture and farmers’ welfare, at least two Chief Ministers of states – Madhya Pradesh and Meghalaya were present during Modi’s address to farmers on Saturday.

Welcoming the audience Prime Minister said he counts himself lucky to be face to face with two important pillars on which New India is shaping up. These two pillars are farmers and scientists, he underlined.

Addressing the valedictory function, Union Minister Radha Mohan claimed the efforts of the last 3 years have brought about a qualitative change in the life of farmers. “The Modi government has brought about a new methodology and a transparent work culture, stated the Union Minister.

Shri Singh further said that the government has acted in a time bound manner under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The schemes for farmers’ welfare are being implemented in a mission mode. The new methodology of good governance, new ideas and an improvement oriented vision will pave the way for modernisation of farming in a new India, he underlined.

“This is the first time that the Prime Minister has put a concrete goal of welfare of farmers. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the Agriculture Ministry is determined to accomplish this goal by 2022 and is working with full commitment and honesty to achieve this goal”, said Singh.

Among those present on the occasion of the valedictory function of the Krishi Unnati Mela 2018 were Parshottam Rupala, Minister of State of Agriculture; Smt Krishna Raj, Minister of State of Agriculture; Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi; Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR, Dr Trilochan Mohapatra; CEO National Rainfed Area Authority Shri Ashok Dalwai.
