Senior cooperator Dileep Sanghani has highlighted the cooperative movement’s role in pioneering the Kisan Credit Card, describing it as an idea that has transformed the lives of millions of farmers.
Recalling the initiative, Sanghani said the concept was inspired by the credit card system he had seen abroad. The idea was first implemented through the Amreli District Cooperative Bank with the objective of providing farmers with easy access to credit.
He noted that what began as a small initiative has evolved into the widely adopted Kisan Credit Card scheme, offering farmers greater convenience, financial security and confidence.
Sanghani said the journey demonstrates the strength of the cooperative model, which not only builds strong institutions but also improves the lives and livelihoods of millions of farmers across the country.
