The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF) are set to gain wider market access through the Canteen Services Department (CSD) following key decisions taken at the 80th meeting of the Board of Control Canteen Services (BOCCS) in Ranchi.
Chaired by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, the meeting reviewed measures to strengthen CSD operations while promoting indigenous products under the Government’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Sahkar Se Samriddhi and Vocal for Local.
The Minister noted that products manufactured by NAFED, National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), NCCF and other cooperative organisations are being inducted into the CSD product portfolio in a phased manner.
The initiative is expected to create new marketing opportunities for cooperatives, farmers, artisans and tribal communities while strengthening domestic manufacturing.
The meeting also discussed modernisation of CSD depots, enhanced budgetary support, extension of subsidies on electric two-wheelers sold through CSD, and improved welfare measures for serving personnel, ex-servicemen and their dependents. The Ramgarh depot is being upgraded as a pilot modern logistics facility to support the expanding supply network.
