IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani has called upon cooperative institutions and farmers to actively embrace the reforms introduced by the Central Government to strengthen the cooperative sector and make it self-reliant.
Addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Mahuva Taluka Cooperative Purchase and Sale Union, Sanghani said the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation has ushered in a new era for India’s cooperative movement by providing focused policy support and institutional reforms.
He said that under the leadership of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry has introduced new Model Bye-Laws that are providing a fresh direction to cooperative societies by improving governance, transparency, accountability and operational efficiency. He urged all cooperative leaders, office-bearers and members to study the new bye-laws carefully and implement them effectively to maximise their benefits.
Sanghani also highlighted the formation of three new national cooperative societies dedicated to seeds, organic farming and exports. He said these institutions have been established to increase farmers’ income, create better marketing opportunities and strengthen the cooperative ecosystem across the country.
Informing members about their objectives and activities, he said these new initiatives will play an important role in enhancing the prosperity of farmers and expanding the reach of cooperatives.
He further noted that the government has provided computers to cooperative institutions as part of its drive to promote transparency, efficiency and ease of operations. The digitisation of cooperatives, he said, would improve service delivery while ensuring better governance and accountability.
Appealing to farmers, cooperative workers and members attending the general meeting, Sanghani urged them to actively participate in the cooperative reform process and encourage more people to join the movement.
He said stronger cooperatives are essential for ensuring economic development, social progress and community security in rural India, adding that collective participation would help realise the vision of a vibrant, self-reliant and prosperous cooperative sector.
