The Khawzawl District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) in Mizoram convened its meeting on July 8 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner K. Vanlalthiana to review the progress of cooperative development and key initiatives in the district.
District Cooperative Officer and Member Secretary B. Lalchhanhima informed the committee that 48 cooperative societies are registered in Khawzawl district, of which 35 are functioning effectively while 13 remain inactive.
The meeting reviewed proposals for new Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (M-PACS), PMKSK retail licences, training programmes, and strategies to strengthen cooperatives.
The committee also assessed the progress of the PACS Computerisation Project. Under Phase II, field readiness and verification have been completed for three PACS, while pre-migration activities are underway for Dulte and Tualte M-PACS. Five PACS have also been selected under Phase III.
The meeting further reviewed Cooperative Week 2026 activities and recent M-PACS expansion in the district.
