The Bihar government has launched an online portal to facilitate membership in primary sugar mill cooperative societies, providing a major digital boost to sugarcane farmers across the state.
Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit inaugurated the portal for the Sakri (Madhubani) and Raiyam (Darbhanga) Primary Sugar Mill Cooperative Societies. The initiative will enable eligible sugarcane farmers to apply for society membership online from their homes, eliminating the need for physical visits.
Farmers enrolled through the portal will gain access to a range of cooperative services, including agricultural inputs, technical guidance, soil testing facilities, benefits under government schemes, and transparent payment for sugarcane supplied to mills.
The state government said the initiative aims to promote digital, transparent and farmer-friendly services while strengthening the cooperative movement by increasing the participation of sugarcane growers in primary sugar mill cooperative societies.
