The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) organised “PACS Parivartan Diwas” at the Cooperative Management Centre (CCM), Rohtak, Haryana, on Tuesday as part of the Cooperative Week 2026 celebrations.

More than 60 farmers representing Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) participated in the programme aimed at strengthening grassroots cooperatives.

Addressing the gathering, Rajeev Sharma, Executive Director, NCUI, highlighted the significance of Cooperative Week and emphasised the crucial role of cooperatives in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He underscored the need to empower farmers, youth and women through cooperative education, training and awareness.

Anant Dubey, Deputy Director, NCUI, explained the concept of PACS Parivartan Diwas and urged PACS to evolve into multi-purpose service centres by adopting activities such as Jan Aushadhi Kendras, Aadhaar services, bill collection centres, petrol pumps and other community services.

Sarita Rathi, Principal, CCM Rohtak and Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, stressed that PACS should diversify into income-generating activities to become self-reliant and member-centric institutions. Participants described the programme as informative and inspiring, reaffirming the importance of modernising PACS to better serve rural communities.
