Former Maharashtra minister Balasaheb Thorat participated in a “Sugarcane Development Fair” organised by Sahakar Maharshi Bhausaheb Thorat Cooperative Sugar Factory for sugarcane growers at Khandeshwar Cultural Hall in Khandgaon, where he interacted with farmers and discussed measures to improve sugarcane productivity.

Addressing the gathering, Thorat highlighted the importance of scientific farming practices, modern technology, and planned cultivation in strengthening the sugar sector and improving farmers’ incomes. He stressed the need for wider adoption of advanced agricultural techniques to increase sugarcane production and expand cultivation areas.

During the programme, scientists from the Vasantdada Sugar Institute, including Dr. Ashok Kadlag, along with Dr. Abhinandan Patil from the agriculture department, guided farmers on modern sugarcane cultivation methods, scientific crop planning, improved plantation techniques, and strategies for increasing yield.

The event witnessed participation from farmers, agricultural experts, and representatives of the cooperative sector from the region.
