The inauguration of Madhur Dairy Unit-2 at Dashela in Gujarat is set to give a major boost to the state’s dairy infrastructure and rural economy. The modern automated milk processing and packaging facility, inaugurated by Amit Shah, has been built at a cost of around Rs 128 crore over 15 acres.

The plant currently has the capacity to process 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day, which will eventually be expanded to 5 lakh litres daily. Shah said the project would strengthen the dairy value chain while increasing income opportunities for milk producers associated with cooperative societies.

Established in 1971, Madhur Dairy began with milk collection of just 6,000 litres and a turnover of Rs 7,000. Today, it has grown into a major cooperative institution with an annual turnover of Rs 628 crore. Shah described the dairy’s journey as a powerful example of the success of India’s cooperative movement.
